Stone’s Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean. A 2 of 4. Honestly, I prefer the original. The vanilla is powerfully there amongst the smoke in the nose, but seems a bit weirdly candy-like. Drinks with an incredible dryness up front, and fades to vanilla with very little obvious smoke flavor (like the original). Finishes clean. A solid porter with vanilla, but the vanilla dominates the smoke in the nose and body if you let this warm up. And because I love the complexity of the smoke presence in the original smoked porter, this makes me not like this nearly as much.
