I post my tasting notes of good (and bad) beer that I find in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. I don't write snooty or nuanced reviews, nor do I only drink one style of beer.

I'll generally rate beers on this purposefully crude scale, with a few accompanying tasting notes:

0 = offensively bad
1 = bad
2 = meh (mediocre)
3 = good
4 = exceptional

Bear Republic’s Jack London ESB on tap at Barclays. A 3 of 4. The nose is all traditional floral hop notes with a touch of cereal grain as well. Drinks quite easily and nice and dry on the finish. Barclay’s light always turns all the pics red from there, but this had a nice clean straw color to it. Lots of depth to the light malts here. What an ESB should be, and very easy to drink.
